Wilson Tomala became a client of the MBDA Business Center-Atlanta in 2011 seeking to: (1) obtain certification as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and to evaluate an 8(a) certification status for G.S.A.T.; (2) connect with the Center’s network of stakeholders and partners; (3) gain access to business opportunities; and (4) receive strategic business coaching. It was the recommendation of the Center staff for G.S.A.T. to utilize our certification packaging service as well as obtain on-going business coaching.
G.S.A.T. Restoration Inc. dba Paul Davis became a certified MBE company as a result of the Center’s certification packaging service and currently is considering the value of obtaining an 8(a). The MBE certification will help G.S.A.T. gain access to governmental contracts, open doors to new business and boost partnering opportunities. Furthermore, G.S.A.T. is currently in the process of leveraging its MBE status and relationship with the Georgia Minority Supplier Diversity Council (GMSDC) to increase corporate accounts. In addition, G.S.A.T. has had a very successful relationship with some of the largest insurance companies in the nation, making G.S.A.T. a leader in repairing damage to both residential and commercial buildings.
Upon the Center’s nomination, G.S.A.T. is being mentored by JE Dunn Construction through the Georgia Mentor Protégé Connection, a business development program for emerging firms administered by the Georgia Education Foundation (GEF) in partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Department of Economic Development. Accepted participants are given the opportunity to excel in business acumen, methods and procedures, competitiveness and capability, which will help create jobs and spur economic growth throughout the state of Georgia.
