Airbnb will work with T. Dallas Smith & Company to find home for Atlanta technical hub

ATLANTA – March 2, 2021 – Today, Airbnb is excited to share that we will work with T. Dallas Smith & Company to help us find a home for our technical hub in the City of Atlanta.

When we began looking for a local brokerage partner to help us with our Atlanta office search, we sought a team with deep expertise, strong ties to the local community, a commitment to diversity, and the same spirit of entrepreneurship found in the Airbnb community.

From our first meeting, we were impressed by the T. Dallas Smith & Company team’s insights, experience and passion for the City of Atlanta. We share an interest in strengthening communities, and supporting entrepreneurs and minority-owned businesses, and we are thrilled
to work together with T. Dallas Smith & Company to find a physical home for Airbnb in Atlanta.

Headquartered in Atlanta, T. Dallas Smith & Company is the largest African American-owned commercial real estate brokerage firm in the country focused exclusively on tenant and buyer representation.

“We’re excited to work with the Airbnb team to locate an office space that will serve their immediate and future plans, and identify a place that will uplift the next generation of tech leaders as well as the surrounding community,” stated T. Dallas Smith, president and CEO of T. Dallas Smith & Company. “Our shared vision in serving the communities where we operate will guide our search.”

We anticipate our Atlanta office will become the regional base for hundreds of technical and non-technical roles over time. The city’s diverse technical talent pool and strong educational infrastructure, which specifically supports communities of color, is the perfect place to grow and diversify our technical workforce.

We intend to establish a physical space in Atlanta later this year, where we can begin to build our team while we work to identify a location for our long-term home. We’ll work with T. Dallas Smith & Company to find both a near term space and our permanent location. As part of our search, we will evaluate locations in Atlanta which will be convenient to the talent we hope to attract and where our presence will make a positive impact on the surrounding community.

If any economic incentives or credits are associated with the location of our office, Airbnb will donate them back to the City of Atlanta for community impact initiatives.

Elevating Golf’s Past and Future

The First Tee of Metro Atlanta and National Black Golf Hall of Fame Honors Golf’s Greats and Nurtures New Generations of Golfing Youth

Atlanta MBDA Centers’ client Jeff Dunovant, Chairman and President, National Black Golf Hall of Fame (NBGHF) is taking the game of golf to new heights, forging opportunities, opening the sport to greater inclusion and diversity, and strengthening golf’s Black legacy.

The PGA has over 29,000 members and only 127 are Black.

In his role at the NBGHF, Dunovant advances the organization founded by his father, Harold Dunovant, to celebrate and honor exemplary achievements of Blacks in the golf industry. Harold Dunovant was a professional golfer in the 1950s and was the first Black to graduate from the PGA Business School.

Today, NBGHF is recognized by the PGA as the first and premier organization to honor Blacks and other minorities for their leadership to change the face of the game and industry. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jeff became a PGA member in 1993, making him and his father the first and only Black father and son PGA members. He recently became a member of the PGA “Quarter Century Club.”

In addition to his role at NBGHF, Jeff is Director of Golf Operations for The First Tee of Metro Atlanta/John A. White Park Golf Course and National Trainer for The First Tee, providing youth development, golf and life skills instruction to underserved communities.

This year, NBGHF will celebrate its 35th Anniversary and Induction Ceremony, May 15-18, 2021, which includes the annual Harold Dunovant Golf Classic at Piedmont Driving Club.

Atlanta MBDA Centers Highlight MED WEEK Award-Winning Clients

As we recognize the major achievements and success of all minority business enterprises (MBEs), we are proud to announce and highlight two MBEs for the national recognition they will receive during 2020 Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week, September 14-19, 2020.  Our clients, Aventure Aviation, won “Exporter of the Year,” presented to a minority-owned firm that has achieved outstanding success in penetrating domestic and global markets, and Corporate Environmental Risk Management (CERM) won “Construction Firm of the Year,” presented to a minority-owned firm that has achieved outstanding success in private or public construction projects and has exhibited revenue and job growth over a sustained period of time.

Aventure Aviation is truly honored with the recognition as MBDA’s Minority Export Firm of the Year. Our success is due to the many organizations who have supported us in the past 20 years such as MBDA, U.S. Commercial Services, EXIM Bank, U.S. Department of Commerce and others,” said Zaheer Faruqi, President of Aventure Aviation.

While our clients continue to thrive and scale, we are pleased to see their efforts recognized and archived in historical records that display their strengths and achievements to the MBE companies following in their footsteps. We value MBEs and are excited to support and assist through this pivotal time. Our goal is to continue assisting and strengthening MBEs while they plan to reopen and strategize for the future.

“We are grateful and humbled by the support and commitment of the Atlanta MBDA Business Center has provided CERM.  It is a true testament to the hard-working professionals at the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, especially Ms. Donna Ennis and her team,” said Albert Edwards, Founder and Managing Director of CERM. “Not only was it an honor to be nominated, but to receive the highest national recognition for a minority-owned company on our company’s 25th anniversary makes it all more special. Everyone at CERM thanks the Atlanta MBDA Business Center for its support and guidance year after year.”

The MBDA National MED Week Awards are the highest level of national recognition that a U.S. minority-owned firm, individual, or organization can receive from the U.S. Department of Commerce. It is the opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of MBEs, as well as the individuals and organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to advancing MBEs and the minority business community.
