The CARES Act

The $2 trillion stimulus bill became law March 27. 

  • In addition to $1,200 direct payments to many individuals and expanded unemployment benefits, the bill includes:
    • $350 billion in federally guaranteed loans to businesses with fewer than 500 employees under
    • the Paycheck Protection Program.
    • $500 billion for government lending and grants to distressed companies, including $425 billion that will go through the Federal Reserve.
    • $150 billion to health care providers.
