CAMP is a Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center-Atlanta program that connects the minority business enterprise (MBE) manufacturing/supply chain community with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), corporations, major suppliers and other partners through programming and projects centered around business growth and opportunities. In addition, the program strives to bring industry knowledge and first class research and innovation to clients, partners and stakeholders. Donna Ennis, Project Director, and Yvonne Dragon, Program Manager of the MBDA Business Center-Atlanta both manage the operations of CAMP and are working towards increasing its national visibility. As a result, Ennis and Dragon have help built partnerships with the the U.S. Department of Commerce MBDA, MBDA Business Centers, the Diverse Manufacturing Supply Chain Alliance, the Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance, the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, and GTMI to build resources and deliver coaching, education, business opportunities, and research to clients. Clients are MBE manufacturers who generate at least $1 million in revenue, own their facility or plant, and have five or more employees.
Ben Wang, Executive Director of GTMI and a strong supporter of CAMP, provided insight to the meetup group about the institute’s cutting-edge interdisciplinary research that tackles the challenges facing today’s manufacturers. After Wang’s presentation, attendees were given a tour of GTMI’s labs including: Additive Manufacturing; Analytics and Prognostic Systems; Extreme Tribology & Diagnostics; Factory Information Systems; Model-based Systems Engineering; Precision Machining and other labs.
Future meetups will occur bi-monthly either at Georgia Tech or at a corporate partner’s plant/facility. Manufacturers, makers, innovators, and supply chain experts are welcome to join. For more information about the contact Yvonne Dragon, Program Manager, MBDA Business Center-Atlanta at firstname.lastname@example.org.
